Mataram, August 14, 2026 – Targeting more than 145,000 spectators, PT Pengembangan Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero) or InJourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), together with the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Provincial Government, are finalizing various cross-sectoral preparations for the 2026 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia, which will take place from October 9–11, 2026, at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit, The Mandalika, Central Lombok, NTB.
These preparations are crucial as the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia grows in scale and impact. By 2025, the event is expected to generate a national economic multiplier effect of IDR 4.96 trillion, boost economic activity in more than 600 MSMEs, employ over 3,000 local workers, and attract 140,324 spectators over the three-day event. These preparations are crucial as the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia grows in scale and impact. Strengthened coordination was carried out through a Coordination Meeting and Kick-Off for preparations for the 2026 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia in Mataram on Wednesday (August 12th). The meeting involved representatives from the central and regional governments, the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), the ITDC Group, state-owned enterprises (BUMN/BUMD), vertical agencies, tourism industry associations, and various relevant stakeholders.
Cross-sector coordination encompassed security and order, transportation and mobility, infrastructure, health, accommodation, tourism promotion, and community involvement and empowerment. This step aims to ensure that the international event not only runs safely and smoothly but also expands economic and tourism benefits for the people of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
West Nusa Tenggara Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal stated that the 2026 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia is a strategic agenda requiring collaboration from all stakeholders. He stated that the development of The Mandalika and the MotoGP event have become part of an ecosystem that has boosted economic activity in NTB, through linkages with the tourism sector, MSMEs, accommodation, transportation, and various community economic activities.

The development of The Mandalika and the hosting of MotoGP have contributed to NTB's economic growth and impacted various sectors, including tourism and the local economy. NTB's economic growth of 13.64 percent in the first quarter of 2026 demonstrates that it is one of the provinces with the highest economic growth nationally. Therefore, we will continue to strengthen collaboration to ensure this event provides even more benefits and broad economic impact for the people of NTB," said Lalu Muhamad Iqbal.
According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), NTB's economy grew 13.64 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026, placing NTB as the province with the second-highest economic growth nationally. In line with this, a Bappenas study titled "Mandalika MotoGP 2025: Economic Acceleration, Image, and Tourism" estimates that the 2025 Mandalika MotoGP will generate an additional gross added value of IDR 0.88–1.21 trillion for the NTB economy, equivalent to 0.47–0.63 percent of NTB's 2025 GRDP. These findings indicate that hosting an international event at The Mandalika is linked to broader economic activity in the region.
Acting Director of ITDC, Ahmad Fajar, emphasized that the scale and impact of the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia make this event not just a global racing event, but also a strategic momentum to strengthen The Mandalika's appeal as a world-class sports tourism destination, build a national motorsports ecosystem, and showcase Indonesian pride on the international stage.

"The 2026 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia is not just about bringing world-class racing to Indonesia. This year is even more special with Mario Suryo Aji and Veda Ega Pratama representing Indonesia in the world championship. This enthusiasm is further strengthened by the achievements of two Indonesian talents: Mario Suryo Aji, who competes in the Moto2 World Championship, and Veda Ega Pratama in the Moto3 World Championship. Their presence embodies the spirit of The Rise of Indonesian Heroes is one of the main messages of the 2026 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Troy Warokka, Chairman of the 2026 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia and Director of Operations at the ITDC, stated that preparations for the event continue to be refined through intensive coordination with all stakeholders. Coordination encompasses various integrated aspects, from readiness at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit to support for mobility, security, infrastructure, health, accommodation, and spectator services.
In terms of mobility, 130 shuttle buses are being prepared within the Mandalika area, as well as transportation support on the Selaparang–Lombok International Airport–Mandalika route. Coordination also encompasses securing spectator mobility and the event area, preparing race and non-race medical services, providing road infrastructure, strengthening destination promotion, and synchronizing the Joint Task Force involving elements of security, disaster management, health, and hygiene.

Through this coordination, we want to ensure all parties are working together towards the event on October 9–11, 2026," said Troy Warokka.
The 2026 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia will also offer a broader experience for spectators through the "Beyond Grand Prix, Discover Paradise" concept, which integrates the race viewing experience with the tourist attractions of The Mandalika. Several programs have been and will be implemented leading up to the race weekend, including Meet & Greets with Indonesian drivers, Watch Parties, Riders Goes to School, and a Riders Parade.
During the event period, various experiences are also being prepared at The Mandalika, including a Camping Experience, Circuit Lounge, Refined MSME Area, and Culinary Experience. Local community involvement is also strengthened through the participation of MSMEs, joint cleaning programs, Students Go to Paddock, and various activities aimed at expanding the benefits of the event for the community.
Through collaboration between the central government, the West Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government, district/city governments, ITDC, MGPA, state-owned enterprises (BUMN) and regionally-owned enterprises (BUMD), security forces, tourism industry players, and various other stakeholders, the 2026 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia is expected to be held safely and successfully while generating a broader economic impact.
